Job summary

Scoot Education is seeking dedicated classroom substitutes and student-support staff in Baton Rouge, LA, to supervise and support students in various settings. You’ll work with teachers to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment and help with daily classroom routines.

Ideal candidates have a degree or college credits, pass background checks, and can be bilingual. This role offers flexible, W-2 employment and opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or college credits.
• Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor.
• State & federal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support students in the classroom, playground, or cafeteria.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Encourage student engagement and participation throughout the day.
• Manage classroom routines, behavior, and transitions, following any lesson plans left by the teacher.
• Communicate clearly with school staff.
• Leave brief notes or feedback for the returning teacher.
• Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students.
• Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings.
• Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process.

Daily Pay Range:

$120 – $154. Pay will vary for day-to-day assignments and is typically more for long-term placements. Pay varies by certification, school, and assignment.
