Atlantic County Special Services is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty, and staff. The nurse will assist with teaching sound health practices and respond to emergencies per established policies.

Qualified candidates hold a New Jersey School Nurse Substitute Certificate and an RN license, with strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of child health and wellness.

Substitute School Nurse for Atlantic County Special Services

Position Purpose

• To promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty and staff; to assist with the teaching of sound health practices

Essential Functions

• Reports to the office upon arrival at school
• Checks for messages or materials requiring immediate attention
• Requests clarification of school rules and procedures if necessary
• Arrives in the Nurse's Oficeon schedule to greet students and remains in the assigned area classroom so that students are effectively supervised
• Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school nurse's ofice
• Supports the other school nurses.
• Provides emergency care in case of sudden illness and administers first-aid in case of injury to students or staff according to established policies and procedures
• Notifies Principal or his/her designee to arrange for immediate examination of any pupil who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
• Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned

Equipment

• Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

• Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Qualifications Profile
