Job summary

Atlantic County Special Services is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty, and staff. The nurse will assist with teaching sound health practices and respond to emergencies per established policies.

Qualified candidates hold a New Jersey School Nurse Substitute Certificate and an RN license, with strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of child health and wellness.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey School Nurse Substitute Certificate.
• Demonstrated expertise in school health nursing practice and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of child growth and development, wellness education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status

Responsibilities

• Reports to the office upon arrival at school.
• Greet students in the nurse's office and remain in assigned area for supervision.
• Provides emergency care and administers first-aid per policies.
• Notifies Principal for immediate examination of pupils under influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Travels to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
