Job summary

Mason County Schools is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide health services on an as-needed basis district-wide. The role supports assessment, planning, intervention and referrals to minimize student illness and maximize learning opportunities.

The nurse collaborates with families, staff and external providers to ensure continuity of care, conducts immunizations and screenings, and maintains health records in compliance with state and district policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related science with coursework in health assessment and health education.
• Current RN license in state and CPR certification.
• Experience with pediatric populations and school health settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, screen, plan, intervene and refer for student health needs to minimize illness-related absences.
• Collaborate with families, staff and community agencies to ensure continuity of care.
• Conduct immunizations, physical exams, and vision/hearing screenings.
• Maintain health records in compliance with laws and district policies.
• Develop individualized health care plans (ICHP) and contribute to IEPs.
