Job summary

Mason County School District is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide nursing assessment, care and health education for students on an as-needed basis, aiming to minimize absences due to illness and support a healthy school climate.

The nurse collaborates with families, physicians, school staff and community providers to ensure access to care, conducts immunization and health screenings, maintains records, and develops health care plans when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related science.
• Current RN license in Kentucky.
• CPR certification.
• Experience with pediatric populations desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing assessment and care for ill/injured students.
• Collaborate with families, staff and health providers to ensure access to care.
• Conduct immunizations, physical exams, and vision/hearing screenings.
• Maintain accurate health records and develop IHP/IEP when needed.
• Provide health education to students, parents and staff.
• Report health concerns to appropriate personnel and agencies.
• Contribute to school health programs and safety practices.
