Hardy County Schools is seeking a Substitute School Bus Operator for countywide routes. The role requires passing background checks, WV DMV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and completion of the WV School Bus Safety Program. A valid CPR/First Aid certification and ability to meet state transportation standards are essential.
Location: Hardy County, WV. Salary is based on the 2026-2027 salary scale. Training and county-provided resources are available to qualified applicants.

Job Summary: Substitute School Bus Operator – Countywide
Qualifications:
Criminal background check pursuant to W. Va. Code §18-5-15c, et seq.
Meet the definition of “Qualifications” pursuant to W. Va. Code §18A-4-8b
Demonstrate competency pursuant to W. Va. Code §18A-4-8e as required
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have at least three (3) years of driving experience as a licensed operator of any vehicle
Must obtain and maintain a West Virginia CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsement
Must successfully complete the West Virginia School Bus Safety Program and pass all requisite online and skills tests
Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification
Complete all required county and WVDE trainings
Must pass a physical examination from a Medical Examiner as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Subject to drug and alcohol screenings
Must meet all requirements outlined in West Virginia State Board of Education Policy 4336, available at http://wvde.state.wv.us/policies/p4336.doc
