West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a Bus Operator in Hardy County, WV, to support the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. The position offers a 200-day contract for the 2026-2027 year with a transition to the next school year.

Route coverage includes Misty Terrace et al., with multiple AM and PM runs. Candidates must hold a WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, complete the School Bus Safety Program, and pass required testing.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three years of driving experience as a licensed operator.
• Must obtain and maintain a West Virginia CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement.
• Must successfully complete the West Virginia School Bus Safety Program and pass all required tests.
• Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
• Subject to drug and alcohol screenings.
• Must pass a physical examination per FMCSA requirements.
• Must meet WV State BOE Policy 4336 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Route assignment for AM and PM runs across Hardy County schools.
• Transport students safely to and from locations on established routes.

Qualifications:

• Criminal background check pursuant to W. Va. Code§18-5-15c, et seq.


• Meet the definition of \"Qualifications\" pursuant to W. Va. Code§18A-4-8b


• Demonstrate competency pursuant to W. Va. Code§18A-4-8e as required


• Must be at least 21 years of age


• Must have at least three (3) years of driving experience as a licensed operator of any vehicle


• Must obtain and maintain a West Virginia CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsement


• Must successfully complete the West Virginia School Bus Safety Program and pass all requisite online and skills tests


• Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification


• Complete all required county and WVDE trainings


• Must pass a physical examination from a Medical Examiner as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration


• Subject to drug and alcohol screenings

Start Date: September 15, 2026 for the remainder of the 200-day contract for the 2026-2027 School Year.

Salary: Based on the 2026-2027 salary scale.

Route: Misty Terrace, Chipley Lane, Brighton Avenue, Main Street, Elm Street, Maple Avenue, and Jackson Avenue. This bus run will include multiple a.m. and p.m. runs.
