Job summary

Empower Schools of Alabama seeks a Substitute Bus Driver to provide safe student transportation and support school operations. You must hold a valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement, and maintain the required health card.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card as required by state law.
• Possess and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Ability to pass a drug test as required by law.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to operate a school vehicle on a defined route and schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force.
• Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
• Comply with Alabama Child Protection Act and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports issues.
• Picks up and discharges students at stops per route and schedule.
• Maintains communications and surveillance equipment as required.
• Maintains professional relationships with staff, students, and families.
• Reports accidents and follows district procedures.
• Adheres to traffic laws and safety procedures.
• Cares for school equipment and materials.
• Maintains order and discipline on the bus.
• Transports students on field trips and events as assigned.
• Participates in safety drills and professional development.
• Prepares reports and correspondence accurately and timely.
• Maintains confidentiality per laws and policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
