Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• CDL with passenger and S-endorsement required.
• Alabama school bus driver’s certificate required.
• Shall pass DOT drug and alcohol tests and background checks.
• Must maintain professional appearance and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Attend instructional meetings and staff development as required by the Board.
• Obey all traffic laws and observe mandated safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintain order and report disciplinary problems to the principal or designee.
• Keep assigned bus clean and adhere to route schedules.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and report mechanical issues; notify supervisor as needed.
• Discharge students at authorized stops and report absences.
• Report all accidents and complete required reports.
• Adhere to policies against tobacco, drugs, and alcohol; report incidents.
• Walk the aisle to check for sleeping children; ensure safe unloading.
