Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain a current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card as required by state law.
• Must meet suitability criteria under relevant Alabama laws.
• Maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record and insurability for school transportation.
• Pass a drug test as required by law.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to operate a school vehicle on assigned routes to a defined schedule.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and exert force as needed.
• Be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
• Any board-approved alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals.
• Adheres to traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Prepares and submits monthly school bus reports and accident reports when needed.
• Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
• Maintain a clean bus and manage student discipline on board.
• Report accidents to transportation and appropriate officials.
• Assist students during evacuations and field trips as assigned.
• Maintain equipment and comply with regulations and policies.
