Job summary

Andrews Independent School District is seeking a Substitute Teacher’s Aide to support classrooms in the Administration Building. This on-call role assists the regular teacher during absences, reports to the campus principal, and earns a daily wage of $75 with immediate starting date.

A HS Diploma or GED is required. Excellent communication and patience help maintain an orderly, safe learning environment, with substitutes working on an as-needed basis and no benefits.

Job Title: Substitute Teacher’s Aide

Reports to: Campus Principal

Wage/Hour Status:

Primary Purpose:

Under the guidance of the regular teacher provide duties of an educational aide during the absence of the regular aide.

Note:Substitute employees are employed on an as-needed, on-call, day-to-day basis and are not guaranteed work on a regular basis. There are no benefits associated with substitute employment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

A minimum of a HS Diploma or GED certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent communication skills; the ability to remain patient while also maintaining an orderly classroom

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist the teacher in the day-to-day classroom operations.
• Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Oversee students during non-classroom times including, but not limited to, between classes, during lunch, and on the playground.
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.

Professionalism, Communication, and Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator in accordance with school policies and practices.
• Work cooperatively with other staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, and/or parent/guardian.
