Job summary

Andrews Independent School District Administration Building in Andrews, Texas is seeking a Substitute Custodian to assist the Head Custodian and support daily cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Starting immediately, this on-call position pays $11 per hour. Substitute employees are employed as-needed and are not guaranteed regular hours, with no benefits. Responsibilities include keeping buildings and grounds neat and safe, following district policies.

Qualifications

Primary Purpose:

Under the guidance of the Head Custodian provide duties of a helper during the absence of the regular employee.

Note: Substitute employees are employed on an as-needed, on-call, day-to- day basis and are not guaranteed work on a regular basis. There are no benefits associated with substitute employment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

A minimum of a HS Diploma or GED certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

Excellent communication skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist in the day-to-day custodialduties.
• Keep schoolbuilding and grounds, includingsidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean
• Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.

Communication, and Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned by Head Custodian in accordance with school policies and practices.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater.

Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
