• Administer medication and treatment as needed during school hours.
• Provide emergency care for students, faculty and employees who are ill or injured during the school day.

Job Requirements

• BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
  The School Nurse is directly responsible to the principal of the school and the District School Nurse Leader. Overall responsibilities are to maintain records within the school department and to provide an environment conducive to learning.
  Maintain health history records on all students
  Identify students with health problems
  Counsel students, parents and staff personnel concerning their individual health problems and interpreting health appraisal findings
  Assume responsibility for follow-up of screening procedures, such as hearing and vision
  Administrate immunization clinics
  Observe school facilities, programs and services. Recommend modifications necessary to maintain optimum health and safety of students and school personnel to the principal of the building
  Assume responsibility for formulation of the health services budget and ordering for each school’s health area
  Provide emergency care for students, faculty and employees who are ill or injured during the school day
  Notify parents, or designated adults, of all students who have become ill at school and to help arrange for care and disposition
  Help to coordinate health services with community health programs
  Administer medication and treatment as needed during school hours
  May cover school sponsored field trips
  QUALIFICATIONS:
  Must be a registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusettsm
  Must have a BA/BSN degree with a minimum of 2 years school nursing experience
  Must be certified by Massachusetts Department of Education, preferred
  SALARY:per the GNA contract - $39.00 per hour
