Job summary

Mead School District is seeking a Substitute Nurse to provide coverage for absent or vacant nursing positions serving students across the district. The role requires current RN or LPN licensure, CPR/First Aid, and the ability to document care plans and health records accurately.

You will collaborate with district nurses and school staff to deliver safe, compassionate care, assist with vision/hearing screenings, dispense medications, and implement medical/emergency plans.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN or LPN licensure with the appropriate State Board.
  • Experience in nursing duties with children is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.

  • Excellent record keeping ability and clerical skills.
  • Must have excellent communications skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and a team player.
  • Ability to respond to and handle emergency situations in a calm, professional, effective manner.
  • Experience with equipment found in the school setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in appropriate lifting procedures, incurring no injury to students or self.

The Salary Range for a Substitute Nurse is Min $27.05 – Max $27.05 per hour. Substitutes will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Substitutes who work 630 hours will become benefit eligible for the remainder of the school year. Standard benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability. Benefits are provided through the School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB) athttps://www.hca.wa.gov/employee-retiree-benefits/school-employees

Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

6. After your initial screening, if selected, you will be invited to come to the District Office for substitute orientation which includes completing the fingerprint process. All selected candidates must be Board Approved.
