Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Merrillville, IN seeks a School Nurse to provide general nursing care to students and staff, administer medications, and maintain medical records on site.

You will communicate health concerns with families, supervise prescriptions, and observe reactions to treatments while identifying childhood illnesses. Indiana license and CPR preferred; BSN preferred where possible.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (BSN preferred) and Indiana licensure.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
• Experience with administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care to students and staff.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
• Keep daily medical records of students.
• Communicate with parents/guardians concerning daily health concerns and visits to nurse.
• Supervise the dispensing of prescriptions to students.
• Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment.
• Treat minor wounds and abrasions.
• Serve as a resource person on health issues.
• Provide follow-up evaluations on students as required.
• Administer care including calculating diabetic formulas; insulin; documenting seizure activity; tube feeding and care; identify illnesses.
• Inform staff of any health concern needing additional care with the school building.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building Principal, Nurse Coordinator, or Director of Student Services

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITITES:
