Job Title: Substitute Nurse

Reports To: Building Administration and/or Central Office

Location: District Wide

Hourly Rate: $185/ day

Education/Experience:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Hold a CT Nursing license as defined by Section 20-87a CT General Statutes
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification

Position Summary:

Provide coverage in the absence of a regular school Nurse to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing diverse medical needs and passionate about supporting student health.

Responsibilities:

Assesses student health status and the health needs of staff and students

Execute medical attention and first aid when needed to students and staff

Follow guidelines and routines accurately and effectively

Ensure student safety across all settings

Leave detailed, constructive notes for the absent nurse regarding student medical needs or developments

Minimum Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Flexibility, adaptability and patience under pressure

Basic tech proficiency to document student medical needs and assessments

Previous experience working with children preferred

  • Ability to use knowledge and reasoning to solve routine problems.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information, technology and legislation applicable to departmental activities.

Ability to distinguish between public and confidential information and handle appropriately.
