Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing services to students and staff;
• Administer medication with appropriate documentation;
• Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with State mandates;
• Perform mandated screening procedures;
• Complete accident/incident reports for students/staff;
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health related issues;

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with school health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
• Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
• Good knowledge of data entry, record keeping, and the SNAP system
• Knowledge of accepted procedures for disposing of used supplies.
• Ability to observe the general physical condition of patients to detect signs of abnormalities.
• Ability to record observations completely, accurately, legibly, and concisely.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and over telephone.
• Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment in working with people.
• Ability to accept supervision.

Education and Experience

• Licensed to practice as a nurse in the state.

Physical Requirements

Must have the physical ability to execute the full performance of duties for the position, including but not limited to: reaching, some lifting, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling.
