Job summary

Racine Unified School District is seeking an elementary/middle school classroom assistant to support instructional activities and supervise students. The role involves helping students individually or in groups with lesson assignments, maintaining a safe and orderly classroom, and assisting with transitions and daily routines.

The ideal candidate will be able to encourage learning, provide redirection when needed, and help track student progress to inform teachers.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments to reinforce concepts.
• Maintain classroom safety and order; monitor student behavior.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and bus loading.
• Provide encouragement and redirection to support learning in the school environment.
• Assist with supervision during emergencies and discipline when needed.
• Help students with outdoor clothing and personal needs as required.
• Record progress and report back to teachers to inform instruction.

• Devote attention to children needing discipline and special attention.
• Assist children with outdoor clothing.
• Constant supervision of the student(s) for safety in all areas of

learning.

• Carry out program and behavioral objectives in both the school and

public settings.

• Bathroom student(s) (clean body waste and fluids) and provide primary

personal and health care needs.

• Feed student(s) if necessary.
• Track student(s)’ progress to provide information to teachers for

instruction/re-instruction and assist with annotated record keeping.
