Job summary

Joliet Township High School District 204 is seeking a Substitute Custodian to perform custodial and housekeeping tasks both inside and outside the building under supervision. The role includes minor repairs, simple equipment use, and setting up public address systems, with potential district vehicle operation.

Some watchman duties may apply. Candidates should be able to lift items over 75 lb, read work orders, and work with ladders; the board may accept suitable alternatives to these

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completion.
• Ability to perform manual labor tasks and use common hand tools.
• Ability to operate lifts and climb ladders.
• Ability to read and understand work orders.
• Any alternatives deemed appropriate by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial and housekeeping duties inside and outside the building.
• Perform minor repairs of building furnishings and operate simple equipment.
• Set up and operate public address systems as directed.
• May operate district motor vehicles as required; watchman duties as needed.

Job Goal

The Substitute Custodian shall be able to perform all custodial and housekeeping duties (inside and outside of the building) as directed by supervision. This shall include some minor repairs of building furnishings, operation of simple equipment, set up and operation of public address systems and may require operating district motor vehicles (excluding transportation department vehicles and equipment). This description applies also to individuals assigned to watchman duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete manual labor tasks including the ability to use common hand tools.
• Ability to operate district's lifts and climb ladders.
• Ability to lift items in excess of 75 lb.
• Ability to read and understand work orders.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Pay rate:

$18.72/hour
