Job summary

Position Title: Cook (School Nutrition Program)

Responsible To: School Nutrition Program Manager, School Nutrition Program Director, Principal

Basic Function: The Cook is responsible for maintaining School Nutrition Program facilities and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.

Performance Responsibilities
  1. Assist in preparation and serving of food.
  2. Operate dishwasher and other equipment.
  3. Assist in setting up steam tables for food service.
  4. Work on the food serving line.
  5. Attend at least six (6) hours of annual continuing education/training, including food safety training.
  6. Perform other duties related to the cafeteria as assigned by the School Nutrition Program Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or demonstrated progress toward GED as required by Kentucky law, and one year of food service experience.
  • Complete training for certification of beginning school food service personnel as prescribed in 702 KAR 6:045.
  • Re-certify annually.
  • Ability to understand oral and written directions.
  • Ability to work closely with team members.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in food preparation.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in food preparation.
Terms of Employment

Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated according to board policy for classified personnel.
