Substitute - Bus Aide 2026-2027

Location: Fincastle, Virginia. Starting date: Immediately. Salary: $15 per hour.

General Responsibilities

Under direction of the school principal, substitute in a classified capacity, including instructional assistant, office aide, school nutrition worker, custodian, etc. Provide appropriate learning experiences for students, create a conducive atmosphere and environment for intellectual, physical, social and emotional development, supervise students in a variety of school‑related settings, communicate and interact with students, assist in the execution of instructional plans and materials, maintain records when necessary and follow required procedures and practices, monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

Essential Tasks

• Ensure the overall academic learning process toward the daily achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals of the school division.
• Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct for the classroom.
• Establish relationships recognizing and respecting every individual.
• Follow direction of supervisor.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Participate and share responsibility for the total school program, be a team player.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Show professionalism.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, school‑based staff, students; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills; maintain professionalism at all times.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED.
