Job summary

Lorena ISD is seeking a part-time substitute to provide coverage for regular teachers by following lesson plans and maintaining classroom routines in Lorena, Texas. This role supports student learning while the regular teacher is absent.

Responsibilities include delivering lessons, consulting with the principal as needed, and adhering to district policies. The substitute may perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or superintendent.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Prefer some College experience.
  • Previous Teaching Experience or Bachelor’s degree from accredited university is beneficial.

SUMMARY

To provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. To enable students to develop skills to function successfully in society.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Maintains as fully possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom assigned.
  • Teaches the lessons outlined and described by the absent teacher.
  • Consults with the principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the lesson plan provided by the absent teacher.
  • Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching dictates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma required

Prefer some College experience

Previous Teaching Experience or Bachelor’s degree from accredited university is beneficial

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, administration, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
