Job summary

Pinellas County Schools is seeking substitute teachers to support classrooms across our district. This part-time role requires reliability, flexibility, and a student-first approach in a dynamic school environment.

Applicants should have at least 60 college credit hours and may include prior teaching experience or certification; onboarding training is provided. The Sub Plac Placement Office will guide onboarding and scheduling after approval.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 college credit hours completed.
• Professional reference for work or volunteer work within the last year.
• Official transcripts from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Complete Active Threat Assessment online prior to accepting a substitute assignment.
• Work a minimum of 4 days per month (2 Fridays and 2 Mondays).
• Work the hours in Frontline Absence Management/Aesop system.
• Complete the substitute job as listed in the Teacher Substitute Job Description.

Substitute Teacher

(Currently reviewing applicants with prior teaching experience and/or certification, school counselors, and education majors)

Application Requirements

• 1 Professional Reference for work or volunteer work within the last year
• Work/life history for the last 5 years or since high school graduation
• Official college transcripts from an accredited college or university with at least 60 college credit hours

• Former PCS Teachers: If you provide a copy of your Florida Educator's Certificate or valid Statement of Eligibility, we can accept a copy of your official transcripts because this verifies that an official transcript has been received by the DOE in Tallahassee.

Onboarding Training Requirements

(Training Links/Attachments will be emailed to you from the Sub Placement Office)

• "At Your Own Pace" Online- Substitute Handbook Training and Quiz- for all applicants
• "At Your Own Pace" Online-STEDI Training- for applicants that do not have a teaching background (Cost $49.95)
• School Shadow Opportunity -for all interested applicants (optional)

Once Application Approved

The Substitute Placement Office will contact you to schedule your onboarding appointment.

Once Hired

The substitute must:
