Job summary

Heber Light & Power Co in Utah is seeking a skilled Substation Technician to join our team. This journey-level position serves with a focus on constructing, operating, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electric substations and related equipment.

The role involves maintaining control, relaying, SCADA, PLC, and communication systems; operating hydroelectric facilities; providing guidance to apprentices; and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Journey-level certification or working toward journey-level status.
Journeyman electrician license is required or in progress.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
Knowledge of protective relaying, SCADA, PLCs, and utility equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Construct, operate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electric substations and equipment.
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical, protective relaying, SCADA, PLC, and communication systems.
Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical systems at hydroelectric facilities.
Perform journey-level electrical work, preventive maintenance, testing, switching, and emergencies.
Provide direction and training to Substation Apprentices and participate in on-call schedule.
Work safely and in accordance with policies, codes, and regulations.
