Job summary

The City of Loveland is seeking a Journey Substation Relay Technician to install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment in a substation environment. You will work on protective relaying, SCADA and substation control systems, transformers, and switchgear, coordinating with vendors and contractors as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with a certified substation/apprentice program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus completion of an approved 4-year substation apprentice or Relay Testing Apprentice program with certification.
  • Associate's degree in Electric or Electronic Sciences preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair substation equipment in a high-voltage environment.
  • Work on protective relaying, substation control systems, SCADA, transformers, metal-clad switchgear and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors/contractors; assist with reporting, scheduling, inspection, testing and final commissioning.
