Job summary

Strata Careers is seeking a Senior Substation Project Engineer to support electrical substation projects for utility-scale solar and storage initiatives. You will coordinate with engineering teams, EPCs, utilities, and vendors through design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in substation and transmission engineering, strong communication, and experience with IEEE/ANSI/NESC/NEC standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5–10 years in substation and/or transmission line engineering, design, or project engineering.
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC, and NEMA standards.
• Ability to review external engineering deliverables for conformance.
• Strong written and verbal communication across disciplines.
• Proficiency with MS Office and SharePoint; ability to coordinate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering execution of substations, transmission lines, and interconnection facilities from proposal to closeout.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams to align scope, schedule, budget, and safety.
• Review design packages, drawings, calculations, and equipment data for compliance.
• Develop and maintain project technical documentation and test plans.
• Assist with RFIs, field change orders, and technically support construction.
• Participate in factory and site acceptance testing and issue resolution.
• Support permitting, schedule development, cost tracking, and risk assessment.
