Job summary

Valmont is seeking an Associate Project Manager I to support the execution of substation material procurement projects from bid through closeout. This role applies foundational project management, estimating, and substation design knowledge to assist with quoting, material take-offs, procurement, vendor coordination, documentation control, and customer communication.

The APM I works closely with Project Managers, vendors, warehouse personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree preferred with 3+ years of experience or 5+ years overall.
• Basic understanding of electrical substation design and construction.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specs, RFQ/RFP documents.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support project estimates based on RFQ/RFQ documents, technical specs, and drawings.
• Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) from substation drawings.
• Coordinate with vendors, warehouse staff, and project managers.
• Prepare and verify purchase orders to align with quotes and lead times.
• Provide delivery notifications and schedule updates to clients.
• Forecast costs and invoicing for assigned projects three months forward.
