Job summary

Jacobs in Los Angeles seeks a Substation Studies Engineer to perform power system analyses supporting the planning, design, operation, and expansion of transmission and distribution substations.

You will develop and validate system models, conduct studies, evaluate equipment performance, and provide recommendations to ensure reliable and compliant operation of the power system and substation design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CIGRE standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash, grounding, and protection coordination.
• Develop and review power system models for transmission and distribution substations.
• Support substation design by validating equipment ratings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and present study results to stakeholders.
• Support studies projects through lifecycle from proposal to close-out.
• Collaborate with teams across North America and globally.
