Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design large-scale electric power systems, including HV/MV substations and energy storage projects, in the energy and power team. You will engage clients, lead design studies, mentor junior staff, and deliver innovative solutions supporting utility planning and decarbonization initiatives.

The role requires 5+ years in energy projects, a PE license or progression toward it, and proficiency with power systems software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems emphasis preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of design/consulting/operations experience with energy sector clients.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong proficiency in power system analysis software and design tools.
• Experience with DoD projects is a plus (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform studies and designs for large-scale behind-the-meter power generation projects.
• Oversee and approve power system studies and engineering design for HV/MV substations and utility networks.
• Specify performance and design requirements for substations, transmission, and energy storage.
• Lead studies using SKM ETAP EasyPower or similar software.
• Develop long-term utility infrastructure plans and decarbonization strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical training.
