Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Power Systems Engineer to perform comprehensive power system studies and model development for transmission and distribution substations. You will prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders, collaborating with teams across North America and globally.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years of direct experience with power system studies, plus proficiency with ETAP/SKM/PSCAD and knowledge of IEC/IEEE/CIGRE

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, insulation coordination, transient overvoltage analyses, temporary overvoltage, arc flash, grounding, and protection coordination studies.
  • Develop and review power system models to support the planning, design, operation, and expansion of transmission and distribution substations.
  • Support substation design and engineering projects by establishing, reviewing, and validating equipment ratings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports and present study results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support system studies projects throughout the lifecycle, from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, and close-out.
  • Work closely with the team members across North America and globally.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies.
  • Experience with power system studies using ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, or other equivalents.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical capabilities with a focus on achieving results.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within North America.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of programming languages to streamline studies using Python.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) license or eligibility to obtain.

Base salary range: $110,600.00 to $145,200.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and other factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
