Job summary

Wabash Valley Power Alliance in Indiana seeks a Substation Inspection and Maintenance Technician to inspect and maintain power facilities, assist with installation and repair, and support field operations across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include trainting on equipment, recording measurements, and ensuring safety standards while coordinating with engineering and field teams. Strong mechanical and electrical reading skills required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of mechanical concepts.
• Able to read electrical one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of Substation and Transmission safety procedures.
• MS Office skills.
• Dependable and able to work in a team.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL/DOT may be required.
• Must pass safety/compliance courses.

Responsibilities

• Performs external inspections of substation equipment such as transformers, regulators, breakers and reclosers.
• Assists with installation, testing and repair of substation facilities.
• Records gauge and meter readings from substation instrumentation.
• Obtains samples of insulating fluid from transformers and regulators.
• Interrogates field IED devices to obtain SOE and logs as directed by Engineering.
• Maintains stock and non-stock inventory for equipment and spares.
• Responds to system issues or alarms and advises supervision on unusual events.
• Operates WVPA vehicles and ensures safety and compliance on site.
