Job summary

Wabash Valley Power Alliance in Indiana is seeking a skilled Electrical Relay Technician to perform maintenance, testing, and calibration on protective relays and control devices across transmission and substations.

The role requires knowledge of AC/DC systems, substation drawings, and strong safety discipline. You will work with engineers and field crews, and may coordinate contractor activities while supporting emergency response efforts.

Qualifications

• Understanding of protective relaying systems and transmission operation.
• Ability to read substation drawings and schematics.
• Experience with AC/DC electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain protective relays and control systems.
• Install new protective relays and devices per specs and standards.
• Test and calibrate relays for accurate fault detection.
• Diagnose faults, minimize downtime, and document repairs.
• Maintain records to meet regulatory and documentation standards.
• Adhere to safety protocols and participate in emergency response.
• Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and operators.
• Coordinate contractor activities when required.
