Job summary

Duke Energy is offering a Substation or Line Technician Summer Intern position across North Carolina and South Carolina locations. You will assist experienced technicians with transmission line and substation construction and maintenance while learning how the power grid operates.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Engineering Technology or related fields, will graduate after August 2027, and hold a valid driver’s license with the potential to obtain a CDL Class A.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year Engineering Technology or related program with a projected graduation after August 2027.
• Must have a valid State Driver's License and the ability to obtain a CDL Class A License.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures and company rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist higher-level technician in transmission line/substation construction and maintenance tasks.
• Learn how the power grid operates while supporting safe and efficient work.
• Follow safety rules and understand Human Performance Tools.
• Develop basic understanding of electrical drawings and system schematics.
• Support field activities across various sites within the footprint.
