Job summary

NorthWestern Energy in Montana is seeking a Substation Electrician or Journeyman Lineman to construct and maintain substation equipment and, when needed, step into Sub-Foreman duties for supervision and safety leadership.

You will troubleshoot, perform welding, operate heavy equipment, and document work with computerized systems. Overnight travel up to 80% may be required and CDL is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman Electrician or Journeyman Lineman status is required.
• Willingness to act as Sub-Foreman or Foreman when needed.
• CDL and satisfactory driving record or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Understand audible signals and communicate verbally to maintain safety.
• Troubleshoot substation electrical systems and service equipment.
• Perform rubber gloving for low-voltage work and install/repair substation components.
• Erect steel, replace or increase size of substation structures as needed.
• Install/repair transformers, breakers, regulators, and other equipment.
• Document inspection results using computers/software.
• Operate heavy equipment such as digger/derrick, cranes, forklifts, backhoes, bucket trucks.
• Provide education and supervision to electricians at privately operated substations.
