Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking an Equipment Engineer III/IV to deliver technical support for substation equipment and guide Asset Health Center/APM test parameters. The role involves reviewing field tests, developing maintenance practices, and creating repair specifications, with collaboration across FE teams and external vendors.

You will travel across the FirstEnergy system, support capital projects, and provide training to TSS and regional personnel, while upholding safety standards and regulatory

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or ABET-equivalent; 3+ years engineering experience.
• FE certificate preferred; PE license preferred.
• Must be able to use Office suite, FileNet, SAP, Cascade, Power BI, QlikView.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and support for substation equipment.
• Review field test results for transmission and distribution and recommend resolutions.
• Provide guidance for Asset Health Center/APM equipment and future asset parameters.
• Develop and modify maintenance practices in response to technology changes and regulatory updates.
• Prepare repair specifications for major equipment.
• Support field personnel during capital projects and maintenance activities.
• Deliver training to TSS employees and regional staff.
• Engage in industry benchmarking and participate in utility forums as SME.
• Maintain a safe workplace per regulations and company practices.
• Support emergency storm duties as part of the plan.
• Collaborate with regional plants, other departments, and outside vendors.
• Travel throughout the FirstEnergy system, including overnight stays.
