Job summary

Quality Technology Services, LLC (QTS) is seeking a Manager, Substation Engineering to lead the design and execution of utility infrastructure across multiple data center campuses. You will manage a technical team and interface with executives to deliver HV substations on time and to spec.

This role requires strong knowledge of HV equipment, industry standards, and strategic execution, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or structural engineering or engineering technology.
• 10+ years of engineering and execution of high voltage substation projects, with construction management.
• 2+ years of people leadership experience.
• Experience working with executives and across all levels of the organization.
• Strong knowledge of substation equipment and 15kV–345kV range.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NEC standards.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portion of the team driving design and technical execution of substation and utility projects.
• Lead and develop team of substation engineers, with performance and career development duties.
• Provide technical guidance for development, design, and installation of high voltage substations.
• Drive strategies to improve project execution through standards, tools, and processes.
• Oversee construction, installation, and commissioning of substation equipment and systems.
• Identify project execution risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to substation operations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide technical support for utility and power challenges.
