Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company seeks a motivated Electrical Engineering student for a Summer 2027 Substation Engineering internship in Davenport, IA. You will gain hands-on experience supporting planning, design, construction and commissioning of substations, working with experienced engineers and project teams.

This temporary, full-time, hourly internship provides exposure to SCADA/RTU, protective relays and substation equipment while emphasizing safety and professional development.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering.
• Sophomore to senior standing preferred.
• Able to work full-time during the Summer 2027 internship period.
• Coursework in power systems, protection and controls preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with substation design, modification and expansion.
• Review drawings, one-line diagrams and BOMs.
• Support field visits and project documentation.
• Learn SCADA/RTU and substation automation concepts.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams.
