Job summary

LCRA is seeking a substation electrician to join our internal construction team in Central Texas. You will travel across the region, operate heavy equipment, read blueprints, install conduit and terminate control cables, building critical substation electrical and control infrastructure with skilled teammates.

This role emphasizes safety, quality, and hands-on learning, offering travel accommodations and opportunities to grow into higher-level electrical work while enjoying the Texas outdoors.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, including experience reading blueprints.
  • Degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Class A Texas commercial driver's license

LCRA is hiring a substation electrician to join our internal construction team! Do you enjoy operating heavy equipment, rigging and crane operations, welding, installing conduit and terminating control cables? Join our team and travel across Central Texas, with travel accommodations provided, working alongside and learning from skilled professionals, building critical substation electrical and control infrastructure, all while enjoying the extraordinary Texas outdoors as your office. We’re looking for individuals who want to build their skills and grow into future opportunities.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Build electrical substations using construction skills and specialized tools.
  • Read blueprints, consult manuals, parts lists and keep drawings and schematics up-to-date and accurate.

How You’re Qualified

How You’ll Stand Out
  • Hands-on substation construction skills: operating heavy equipment, installing conduit/cable, constructing steel structures, crane operations, terminating conductors.
  • Experience with project-based work.
