Job summary

LCRA in Austin, TX is seeking a Transmission Substation Electrician to join our maintenance team. The role focuses on maintaining critical central district infrastructure, including high voltage substations, with installation, inspection, repair and testing of transmission and distribution equipment.

The position requires reading blueprints, operating a range of equipment, and occasional after-hours or weekend callouts. A Class A Texas CDL and related electrical experience are required.

Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and reading blueprints.
  • Degree in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field; substitution per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Class A Texas commercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect equipment and structures to detect potential electrical issues.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and general upkeep of substation, control houses and transmission lines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, consults manuals and parts list.
  • Operate and transport equipment such as bucket trucks, boom trucks, forklifts, skid steers, UTV, and other various equipment.
  • May perform low-voltage and high-voltage switching according to standard procedures and in coordination with system operations.
  • Be able to perform after-hour and weekend callouts to investigate alarms and issues in substations and on transmission lines.

Here’s The Role

LCRA is looking for a Transmission Substation Electrician to join our team! As a part of our maintenance team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure of the central district. We're looking for a self-motivated and energetic person to perform electrical work in high voltage substations including maintenance, inspection, repair, testing, adjusting, installation and removal of transmission, distribution equipment. This position requires knowledge and experience in the field but is still building higher-level knowledge and skills.

How You’ll Contribute
