Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Substation Electrician Apprentice (1st–4th Year) or Journeyman to join our Amarillo, TX team. You’ll participate in a four-year electrician apprenticeship, learning substation construction and maintenance while collaborating with a safety-first team.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, Class A CDL within 120 days, CAST test, and willingness to travel and work after hours. Travel and physically demanding work are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or GED and meet criteria listed.
• Class A CDL or ability to attend company-provided CDL training within 120 days of start date.
• Must have passed Edison Electric Institute CAST.
• Must be willing to respond to after-hours and weekend call outs.
• Must be willing to travel extensively for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform construction and maintenance on electrical substations as part of the apprenticeship.
• Collaborate with team to ensure safety, reliability, and quality of work.
• Complete four-year apprenticeship program (Journeyman level may be opened to higher experience).
