Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Power Design Coordinator/EIT in the United States (Seattle area) to contribute to power system design efforts. You will work with engineers to develop design options, prepare deliverables, and perform routine engineering tasks on diverse substation projects.

Role involves independent work on small projects and occasional travel, with a focus on one-line diagrams, protection schemes, SCADA interfaces, and grounding calculations. Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses to develop power-related design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of project deliverables (examples include engineering drawing packages, cost estimates, and project specifications).
• Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
• Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects. Work with assistance from Project Engineers, other Engineers In-Training (EITs), Designers, or BIM Specialists as needed.
• Typical designs include one-line diagrams, protection and control schematic development, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
• Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) may be necessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments.
• Perform other duties as needed
