Job summary

TRC, Member of WSP, is seeking a Substation Engineer in the United States to perform design engineering for relay protection and control in substations. The role covers projects of varying size and voltage class, with collaboration across Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams.

The position emphasizes technical excellence, steady communication, and readiness to provide short-term field support. A Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering is required, with EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• EIT certification strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual designs and execution plans for substation projects.
• Engineering cost estimates and project schedules.
• Physical substation design including grounding, protection, and control buildings.
• Protection and control design including panel and wiring diagrams.
• Perform grounding and lighting protection studies and other electrical calculations.
• Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and FAT.
• Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission, etc.
• Develop and improve processes, tools, and technology implementations.
• Provide field support during construction and client correspondence.
