Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Cleveland seeks a Substation Engineer to perform design engineering activities, supporting relay protection and control for substations of varying size and voltage class.

You will collaborate with Civil/Structural, Networks and Transmission teams, develop execution plans and cost estimates, and contribute to field support during construction. The role offers opportunities to develop technical skills and contribute to projects across power infrastructure in a collaborative

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• EIT certification strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual designs and execution plans.
• Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules.
• Physical substation design including yard layouts, grounding, protection, and control buildings.
• Protection and control design including panel arrangements and schematics.
• Calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, load studies).
• Equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
• Lead coordination with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission teams.
• Develop and improve processes, tools and technology implementations.
• Assist in client communications; provide field support during construction.
