Job summary
HDR is seeking a Substation Project Engineer in Irvine, CA. The role focuses on delivering electrical substation designs, layouts, and associated data packages for low, medium and high voltage projects.
You will coordinate with civil, structural, and transmission teams and mentor junior staff while performing site visits during all project phases. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Engineering (Electrical/Architectural with Electrical emphasis) and a PE license, with strong experience using
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with electrical emphasis.
- PE license or equivalent required for project execution.
- Experience in power substation design and related software tools.
Responsibilities
- Develop substation layouts, material lists, conduit routing, and grounding.
- Prepare drawings, calculations, reports and designs for electrical substations.
- Prepare equipment specs for procurement and testing.
- Coordinate design activities with Civil, Structural, and Transmission teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate QC reviews.
- Attend training to develop discipline expertise.
- Perform site visits during design, construction and as-built phases.
- Support project execution within the Power Market Sector.
