Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a Technical Specialist (Electrical Engineer) to design low to high-voltage substations from our Pittsburgh, PA office. The role emphasizes integration with protection and control drawings, CAD coordination, and hands-on design deliverables.

Qualified candidates will have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with power systems coursework, strong communication, and the ability to travel for reviews and field verifications. Internship or co-op experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with strong power concepts coursework.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a Client First mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage substations and switchyards.
• Develop and revise drawings for one line, physical layout, schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with CAD operators to produce organized CAD drawings.
• Integrate substation layout with protection and control drawings.
• Create project criteria and design specifications including BOM.
• Design and size auxiliary systems, batteries, chargers, and backup generators.
• Travel to client/vendor locations for design reviews and site verification.
