Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design substation, transmission line and generation equipment control systems, ensuring reliability and safety. You will specify equipment using ratings and develop protection and SCADA schemes based on standards and project needs.

The role involves analyzing system ratings, developing scopes and budgets for multi‑year projects, and supporting operations and construction with troubleshooting, data analysis and drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Knowledge of protective relays, transmission and distribution systems, and control schemes.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring and logic diagrams and develop elementary drawings.
• Strong math, analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented and reliable.
• Experience with protection and control design for substation equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design protective relay systems, metering and SCADA per standards and project requirements.
• Gather and analyze system ratings (voltage, ampacity, impedance) for reporting and compliance.
• Produce detailed system protection and control project scopes and cost estimates.
• Support operations and construction personnel in troubleshooting and testing.
• Prepare technical drawings and specifications for electrical installations.
• Direct designers and technicians to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
