Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Substation Construction Manager for a 1-year contract in Florida. You will prioritize safety, enforce QA/QC, coordinate with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, and ensure projects meet specifications.

The role requires at least five years in a supervisory/leadership capacity and a strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural drawings.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Minimum of five years' experience in a supervisory/team leader role.

Responsibilities

• Keeps detailed records of construction activities, progress reports, and safety inspections.
• Experience in leading and managing construction, including monitoring tasks, providing feedback, and resolving conflicts.
• Vast knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and practices, including identifying and mitigating hazards.
• Identify and resolve issues to keep the project on track.
• Familiar with concrete work, foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, GSU containment pits.
• Work with EPC to resolve RFIs and change orders.
• Perform material procurement and material take offs.
• Review project after completion and report lessons learned and improvements.
• Able to work safely near energized equipment and hazardous voltages.
• Lift and carry tools and materials in hazardous environments and over uneven ground.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and promote open communication.

We are searching for a Substation Construction Manager on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment. (W-2) You will prioritize and enforce safety protocols on the job site, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. You would need to have a broad understanding of company policies and procedures. You will coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed effectively. You will perform inspections, maintain QA/QC documents, and audits construction quality, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications

1-year contract assignment. (W-2)

Responsibilities

• Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during construction, ensuring the project stays on track.
• Familiar with concrete work, flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, GSU containment pits.
• Work with EPC to resolve requests for information (RFI) and change orders.
• Perform material procurement and material take offs.
• Review project after completion and report successes, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
• Able to work safely near equipment energized at hazardous voltage levels.
• Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials in hazardous environments and across uneven ground.
• Maintain clean and organized work area.
• Promote open communication with direct reports to enhance teamwork and report issues.
• Proficient computer skills, including a strong grasp of general software like MS Office (Excel, Word, Project) and potentially specialized software for substation construction.
• Turnover and support Commissioning efforts through energization.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in supervisory/team leader role with demonstrated project leadership and management abilities.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58.00/hr. to $63.00/hr.
