Westinghouse Electric Company LLC seeks a Construction Manager (Substation & Transmission) for an 11-month contract in New York. Lead field construction, supervise safety, and ensure adherence to drawings, specs, and schedules, acting as the primary liaison between site operations and the General Manager.

This role requires 8+ years of experience, strong contract and materials management, and knowledge of environmental and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of construction leadership experience in utility/substation projects.
• Proven safety leadership and incident prevention.
• Strong contract and materials management experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and engineering packages.
• Proficiency with common computer tools and project software.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements in construction.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Construction Preparation: review contracts, safety plans, and project docs.
• Conduct kickoff meetings and align team on permits and schedules.
• Site assessment and location identification, greenfield/brownfield.
• Define scope of work, structures, equipment and systems.
• Identify demolition needs and coordinate with engineering documents.
• Manage schedule, milestones, and critical path; escalate delays.

About the role:

We're looking for a Construction Manager (Substation & Transmission) on behalf of our client. This is an 11-month contract assignment.(W-2) The Construction Manager (CM) serves as the field leader responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful execution of substation and transmission construction projects. You be the primary liaison between field activities and the General Manager, the CM ensures adherence to engineering design, contract requirements, environmental regulations, safety standards, and project schedules. You will involve 20% office responsibilities and 80% field oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Construction Preparation: Review and understand all contract documents. Review contractor Safety Plan; coordinate with Safety team.
• Conduct kickoff meetings and orientations and Understand permits, agreements, drawings, schedules, QA/QC, submittals. Set expectations and train the team.
• Project Location & Site Assessment: Identify county, town, site. Determine greenfield or brownfield and Assess access and constraints.
• Scope of Work Execution: Review drawings, specs, engineering packages, Define structures, equipment, systems.
• Identify demolition needs and Align with engineering documents.
• Schedule & Timeline Management: Ensure schedule adherence, Monitor milestones, critical path and Escalate delays.
• Material Management: Compare drawings with EOR BOM, Confirm material delivery/storage, Verify nameplates/specs and Track shortages and damages.
• Environmental & Regulatory Compliance: Confirm permits, Ensure SWPPP, environmental compliance and Coordinate crossing approvals.
• Safety Leadership: Enforce HASP, Encourage proactive safety culture and Conduct daily safety meetings.
• Field Oversight & QA: Ensure compliance with specifications, Conduct daily walkdowns and Document progress.
• Reporting and Tracking: Collect own data, Submit weekly reports and trackers, and Manage team reporting.
• Fiscal Oversight: Track variances, Review invoices and Identify cost drivers.
• Contract Management: Ensure compliance with contract and address non-conformances.
• Communication & Team member Management: - Maintain strong contractor relationships and communicate with PM.
• Resource Coordination: Use environmental, safety, SME, and land teams.
