Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC seeks a Substation Commissioning Manager for renewable energy projects. The role covers commissioning, start-up, and operational turnover at an on-site substation location as part of a 1-year contract (W-2) with per diem availability.

You will lead on-site teams, coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and operators, and ensure safe, compliant turnover of projects across wind, solar, and storage assets. Reports to the Project Manager/Commissioning Director.

Qualifications

• 6+ years on-site project support for renewable power generation construction and commissioning.
• 3+ years working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction and commissioning.
• Strong ability to collaborate with engineering personnel on technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Ensure commissioning activities are performed with high quality and safety adherence.
• Coordinate EPC contractors, OEM start-up personnel, third-party contractors, and operations on site.
• Drive reliable operation at turnover with minimal initial downtime.
• Ensure compliance with PPA and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with the local utility.
• Coordinate interfaces with Transmission Operators and Independent System Operators to hit energization dates.
• Manage on-site commissioning personnel and report to Project Manager/Commissioning Director.
• Collaborate with safety, engineering, and quality control teams.

Opportunity Overview:

Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy. This is a 1-year contract assignment.(W-2) Location: We will provide the onsite location at substation. Per diem available.

To work on behalf of the project Owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage). You will be responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start up and operational turnover.

Reports To: Project Manager / Commissioning Director

Your Day-to-Day:

• Ensure assigned projects' commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
• Responsible for coordination and management of, EPC contractor personnel, OEM start up personnel, third-party start up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
• Responsible for project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time in initial operation.
• Responsible for compliance with all project contractual documents to include Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility
• Ensure Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators make the interface to ensure project energization dates are achieved.
• Manage Client's onsite commissioning personnel
• Work with project's designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties

Who You Are:

• Electrical construction and commissioning means and methods knowledge including NEC and NFPA
• Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting
• E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting
• Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
• Review drawings quality control inspection and Progress reporting
• Outlook, PDF edit Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) (can maintain complex spreadsheets), document control systems and PowerPoint
• Manage third parties and suppliers
• Manage direct report team members
• Schedule and planning understanding
• 6+ years of experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning
• 3 years' experience minimum working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning
• Track record and ability to work with engineering personnel on technical issues.
