Job summary

A leading energy firm in the United States is looking for a Substation Commissioning Manager for a 1-year contract role. The successful candidate will manage renewable energy projects, ensuring high-quality commissioning and safety compliance. You should have over 6 years of experience in renewable power generation project support and at least 3 years with EPC firms. Job description

Opportunity Overview

bSubstation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy. This is a 1-year contract assignment. (W-2) Location: We will provide the onsite location at substation. Per diem available.

To work on behalf of the project Owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage). You will be responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start up and operational turnover.

Reports To: Project Manager / Commissioning Director

Your Day-to-Day
  • Ensure assigned projects' commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
  • Responsible for coordination and management of, EPC contractor personnel, OEM start up personnel, third-party start up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
  • Responsible for project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time in initial operation.
  • Responsible for compliance with all project contractual documents to include Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility
  • Ensure Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators make the interface to ensure project energization dates are achieved.
  • Manage Client's onsite commissioning personnel
  • Work with project's designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties
Who You Are
  • Electrical construction and commissioning means and methods knowledge including NEC and NFPA
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting
  • E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting
  • Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
  • Review drawings quality control inspection and Progress reporting
  • Outlook, PDF edit Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) (can maintain complex spreadsheets), document control systems and PowerPoint
  • Manage third parties and suppliers
  • Manage direct report team members
  • Schedule and planning understanding
  • 6+ years of experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning
  • 3 years' experience minimum working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning
  • Track record and ability to work with engineering personnel on technical issues.
